CCIW Press Release
Feb. 15, 2016 - North Central College sophomore guard Erwin Henry has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 8-14, giving the Cardinals their third such honoree in seven weeks of conference play.
Henry received the distinction, the first of his collegiate career, after leading North Central in scoring during two CCIW victories on the road last week. In Wednesday's 95-77 victory at Carthage College, Henry totaled team highs of 19 points and six rebounds while making 7 of 10 shots from the floor and 5 of 5 at the free-throw line.
On Saturday, in a 79-64 triumph at then-No. 9-ranked Elmhurst College, he delivered a career-high 28 points, shooting 8 of 11 from the field and 10 of 11 from the line, while grabbing eight rebounds. He scored 17 points in the second half and made 7 of 8 free throws in the final 2:04 to preserve North Central's second win over the Bluejays.
Henry, who averages 9.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and has started 18 of the Cardinals' 24 games this season, is the second North Central player to receive the CCIW's Player of the Week Award this season. Alex Sorenson has been so honored twice, on Jan. 4 and Jan. 25.
The Cardinals (18-6, 11-2 CCIW) conclude the regular season on Saturday at North Park University (14-10, 6-7). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Links to live audio, video and in-game statistics can be accessed by clicking HERE.
