Feb. 22, 2017 - The North Central College men's basketball team has been honored with two selections to the 2016-2017 All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Teams, as Alex Sorenson was named to the First Team and Erwin Henry was named to the Second Team. The teams were determined by the CCIW's nine head coaches and announced Wednesday.

Sorenson, a unanimous selection to the All-CCIW First Team for the second straight year, leads the Cardinals in scoring (17.8 points per game), rebounding (8.9 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (1.7 per game) this season. In CCIW play, he ranked first in the conference in rebounds (8.9 per game), second in blocks (1.81 per game) and third in scoring (18.8 ppg). He is the Cardinals' career leader in blocked shots (102) and has scored at least 20 points in 10 games this season, including the last four outings in a row, and turned in nine double-double performances in points and rebounds.

Henry is an All-CCIW honoree for the first time. He has put up 13.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season, ranking sixth in the conference in rebounds (6.2 per game) and ninth in scoring (13.4 ppg) and field-goal percentage (.504) in CCIW play. He averaged 18.0 points per game over  the Cardinals' last five games of the regular season.

North Central (15-10) has qualified as the No. 4 seed for this weekend's CCIW Tournament at Carthage College. The Cardinals will take on the host Red Men in Friday's semifinal round, with tipoff at Tarble Arena set for 7:00 p.m. Links to live coverage of the game can be accessed by clicking HERE.
