USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams
USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals
Feb. 9, 2018 - For the 13th consecutive season, the North Central College women's cross country team has been honored for its continued success in the classroom and in the field of competition, earning the Team All-Academic Award from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2017 season.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The Cardinals compiled a team grade point average of 3.35 through the fall term, its highest since 2012. North Central was one of seven College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) institutions to be so honored, joining Augustana College, Carrroll University, Carthage College, Illinois Wesleyan University, North Park University and Wheaton College, as a total of 221 NCAA Division III programs earned the honor during the fall.
North Central also saw
Alexis Henz and
Madelyn Scopp honored as All-Academic Individuals. A total of 368 NCAA Division III athletes met the criteria of a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and a finish in the top 25 percent of competitors at the regional championships.
Henz, an elementary education major, placed 12th at last season's CCIW Championships to earn Second Team All-Conference honors and finished 63rd at the Midwest Region Championships. Scopp, a biology major, was the Cardinals' top finisher at both the CCIW Championships, where she placed seventh to earn First Team All-Conference accolades, and at the regional championships, where she placed 29th. Both earned Academic All-CCIW honors and Scopp was also named one of North Central's two
Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference honorees for the fall season.
The North Central women's cross country program has received 30 All-Academic awards since their introduction in 2004.
