Alex Sorenson has been voted to the First Team and sophomore
Connor Raridon has been named to the Second Team. This year's All-Region selections were announced on Tuesday.
Sorenson is a three-time All-Region recipient, having been named to the Second Team the last two years. He led the Cardinals in scoring (18.4 points per game), rebounding (9.1 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (1.8 per game) this season. He led North Central in scoring in 14 games, posted nine double-doubles in points and rebounds and scored in double figures 23 times in 28 games. He scored 54 points on 25 of 29 shooting in a victory over Robert Morris University-Chicago on Dec. 30 to break the program's single-game scoring record, which had stood for more than 60 years.
A unanimous First Team All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selection for the third consecutive season and a First Team All-District honoree this year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), Sorenson led the CCIW in rebounds this season. He concludes his career as the Cardinals' all-time leader in blocked shots in a single game (6), single season (59) and career (146) while also ranking sixth in career rebounds (731) and seventh in career scoring (1,443).
Raridon, meanwhile, is a first time All-Region pick, though he was named the Central Region's Rookie of the Year following his freshman season in 2016. Raridon averaged 13.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season while ranking first in the CCIW and sixth in the nation in assists per game (6.7). He broke North Central's records for assists in a single game (13, Dec. 12 at Aurora University), single season (187) and career (337) and was voted to the All-CCIW First Team.
North Central has had 14 selections to D3hoops.com's All-Region Teams since their inception in 2002.
The Cardinals finished the 2017-2018 season with an overall record of 19-9, including an 11-5 finish in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play, and qualified for NCAA Tournament competition for the third straight year and the fifth time in the past seven seasons.
