Feb. 4, 2019 - North Central College junior forward Matt Cappelletti has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3, receiving the distinction for the first time in his collegiate career. The CCIW announced its Player of the Week selections on Monday.

Cappelletti was recognized for his contributions to the Cardinals' 68-63 victory over then-No. 1-ranked Augustana College on Thursday, which was the program's second-ever victory over a top-ranked program. Cappelletti finished with 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds, sharing game-high honors in both categories. He tallied 11 points in the decisive second half, including five in the Cardinals' 12-3 scoring run late in the game that put them in front for good.

The current CCIW leader in rebounds per game (8.2), Cappelletti is North Central's second-leading scorer at 15.0 points per game and also leads the team in three-point shots made (46).

The Cardinals (18-3, 10-2 CCIW) now have two CCIW Player of the Week awards this season. Connor Raridon received the distinction on Dec. 3.

North Central hosts Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday and Wheaton College on Saturday. Tipoff at Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. for both games.
