Apr. 16, 2019 - The North Central College men's track and field team swept the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) track and field athletes of the week this week, with
Peyton Piron taking track honors and
Nick Janca taking field honors.
Piron ran the 400-meter dash at the Benedictine Relays over the weekend, taking first place with a time of 48.36 seconds, setting a new outdoor personal best in the event. His time is ranked first in the CCIW so far this season and tied for 10th on the national list compiled by TFRRS.org. Piron also anchored the 4x400-meter relay that won the Benedictine Relays with a time of 3:17.88. That time is also first in the CCIW and ranks 11th on the national list. This is Piron's fourth time receiving the CCIW Track Athlete of the Week and first time receiving the award during the outdoor season.
Janca competed in the high jump at the Benedictine Relays, taking first place with a leap of 2.03 meters (6 feet, 8 inches). That jump puts him second on the outdoor list for the CCIW and tied for 12th on the national list. This is Janca's second time winning the CCIW Field Athlete of the Week and first time winning the award during the outdoor season.
