CCIW Press Release
Feb. 17, 2020 – For the second time in his career, North Central College forward
Matt Cappelletti has been recognized as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Cappelletti helped lead the Cardinals (19-4, 12-2 CCIW) to a pair of victories last week, as North Central clinched at least a share of their seventh regular season title and their first since 2012. Cappelletti led the team in scoring in both games this week, finishing with 22 points in the 70-55 drubbing of Augustana College on Feb. 12, before following up with an 18-point, eight-rebound showing in the 59-55 win over Carroll University on Feb. 15.
Over the course of the two games, Cappelletti averaged 20 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range and 1.000 from the free throw line.
This marks the second CCIW Player of the Week award this season for North Central, as
Connor Raridon also earned the distinction on Jan. 6.
The Cardinals can lock up the conference championship outright with a win on Wednesday, Feb. 19, as North Central hosts Carthage College in the final home game of the regular season with tip-off inside Gregory Arena scheduled for 7 p.m. Links to live in-game coverage are available
