Feb. 24, 2020 – For the second straight week, North Central College senior forward Matt Cappelletti has been recognized as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week as the conference announced the season's final Players of the Week on Monday.

Cappelletti helped the Cardinals (21-4, 14-2 CCIW) clinch the program's first outright CCIW regular-season title since 2012 last week with a pair of victories. He put up 14 points, including the game-winning free throws with 0.9 seconds remaining, and eight rebounds in a 70-69 victory over Carthage College on Wednesday, then shared game-high scoring honors with 18 points and grabbed nine boards in a 78-71 win at Wheaton College on Saturday to close the regular season.

Cappelletti shot 54.5 percent (12 of 22) from the floor during the week and currently leads North Central in scoring at 14.2 points per game while ranking second in the CCIW in field-goal percentage (.513). 

This marks the third CCIW Player of the Week award this season for North Central, as Connor Raridon also earned the distinction on Jan. 6.

The Cardinals will host the CCIW Tournament Friday and Saturday at Gregory Arena, looking to claim the title for the sixth time and the third in the last four years.
