Ekhomu Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Oct. 28, 2021 - Chrissi Ekhomu has been named the assistant women's basketball coach for North Central College. Maggie McCloskey-Bax, head women's basketball coach, announced the move prior to the 2021-2022 season.

"She is very good with 1-on-1 training," said McCloskey-Bax. "The women have really responded well to her. They are excited about her coming in and making an impact right away."

Ekhomu comes to North Central following her time with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball program. With the Bluegolds, she helped coach three all-conference players while posting an undefeated record in conference play during the 2020-2021 season. Ekhomu was the point person for incoming recruits as well as the main academic contact.

Before working with UW-Eau Claire, she was the graduate assistant coach for Northern Illinois University's women's basketball team. Ekhomu has worked in numerous coaching roles outside of the collegiate realm as well.

The Bolingbrook native was a three-year starter at the University of St. Francis during her three years there. For her senior season, Ekhomu transferred to Lewis University and in total earned two all-conference accolades while being recognized as an academic all-conference student-athlete three times.

The women's basketball team begins their season on Nov. 9th as the Cardinals host Saint Mary's College (Ind.). Tip-off is set for 7 PM inside of Gregory Arena. You can find the rest of North Central's schedule HERE.
