LOUISVILLE, Kentucky. (Nov 20, 2021) – North Central College women's cross country runner Jenna Fiore closes out her cross country career going up against the best runners Division III has to offer at the 2021 NCAA Cross Country National Championships.

Jenna was in prime position at the middle of the start line being able to set her pace with the lead groups around her. Fiore got out hard and battled the hilly six-kilometer course to turn in a time of 23 minutes and 27.4 seconds to finish 236th overall, among 293 competitors. 

"This is a challenging stage to be on," said head coach Mahesh Naraynan and his senior runner. "We talked about how important it is to approach this level of competition with a steady and confident mindset.  This was a big learning day for Jenna. The plan is to use this experience for the track and field season. We are proud of her season, this was a great way to finish her cross country career with us."

The 2021 season has been full of accomplishments for Fiore as she became the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Woman of the Year after turning in an outstanding first place performance at the CCIW Championships. Fiore also finished 17th overall at the MIdwest Regional Championships earning All-Region recognition and providing her the opportunity to compete on the big stage. Fiore was named the CCIW Athlete of the Week early in the season (Oct. 21). 

Johns Hopkins took home the championship title with 130 points followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps who narrowly finished second with 132 points. SUNY Geneseo finished third with 168 points.
