Mar. 9, 2021 - The North Central College men's track and field team secured both College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this indoor season, with runner Gabe Pommier claiming his third honor and jumper Kendall Johnson takes home his second this season.
Pommier dominated the track again Friday evening clocking a time of four minutes, 9.39 seconds in the mile, and finishing ahead of the field by more than 16 seconds to claim the conference's Track Athlete of the Week honor. Pommier leads the event in both the CCIW and the NCAA Division III.
Johnson claimed his second Field Athlete of the Week award this indoor season after executing a personal-best jump of 47'0.75" (14.34 meters) in the triple jump. Johnson is the top ranked jumper in the CCIW and ranks seventh nationally in the event.
The Cardinals will travel for the first time this indoor season to the CCIW Elite Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, Mar. 13 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill. Competition is set to begin at 4 p.m.
