WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2021) – In a field featuring all nine schools in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), the North Central College women's cross country team took advantage of the conference preview offered to them at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill.--the host course for the conference championship later this fall. The Cardinals took fourth overall out of 13 teams.

Jenna Fiore hoovered just behind the lead pack throughout the 6-kilometer course and was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line in a time of 23 minutes and 22.5 seconds finishing 12th. Julia Benes was the next Cardinal across the line in a time of 24 minutes and 6.6 seconds to finish 22nd. Rachael Vaccaro (24:11.4) was only a few spots behind Benes, finishing 25th.

Completing the Cardinals' top-seven was Madzia Myrda (24:35.7) in 31st, Nicole Brandy (24:39.7) in 33rd, Allie Ganser (24:42) in 35th, and Olivia Trask (24:49.8) in 39th.

The University of Chicago won the meet with 33 points followed by Elmhurst University in second with 76 points, Illinois Wesleyan University in third with 106 points, and North Central's 116 points finished fourth. The host team, Wheaton College rounded out the top-5 with 142 points. 

North Central returns to competition on Oct. 1 in Rock Island, Ill. for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College.
