NAPERVILLE, Illinois (Jan. 17, 2022) - The North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted a dual meet versus Carroll University on Saturday, where the women's side saw two first-place finishes and the men saw a pair of personal best efforts.

The Cardinals started the day off with the 400-yard medleys where the men's relay of Nicholas Domschke, Devin Sheehan, Gavin Sheehan and Maciej Sporna finished second overall with a time of 4:33.47 while the women's relay of Emily Miehlke, Abigail Anderson, Scarlett Schuth, and Amelia Woods finished third with a 4:53.75. 

In addition to the relay, G. Sheehan posted two more second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.93) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.29). Ben Laurich clocked a nearly two second season's best in the 500-yard freestyle (6:05.91) to place second.

Sporna also saw a season's best effort this weekend in the 50-yard freestyle clocking a 24.83 to place third. He also snagged a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (57.22).

Anderson had a successful weekend with a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.25) and a season's best in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.68) to place third. Taylin Lemke also earned a first-place finish, clocking a 6:13.55 in the 500-yard freestyle. 

Woods finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (28.12) while Miehlke placed third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.68).

The women's team fell to Carroll 75-16 as well as the men's team with a score of 72-12.

The swimming and diving teams will travel to Chicago, Ill. on Jan. 22 for their next meet against Illinois Institute of Technology at the Keating Sports Center.
