Cardinals Move to No. 9 after Week 7 Polls

USTFCCCA Regional Rankings — Week 7

Nov. 1, 2022After seven weeks of competition the North Central College women's cross country team moved up to No. 9 ranking in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week seven poll. The USTFCCCA released its rankings on Tuesday.

The Cardinals took sixth place at their first race of the season with a score of 136 points at the Vic Godfrey Open on Sept. 2nd. Julia Benes and Nicole Brandy both place inside the top 25 at the first meet. They also took sixth place in their second race of the season with a score of 185 points at the Gil Dodds Invitational on Sept. 17th. Brandy was the first Cardinal to finish placing in the top 25 again. Not far behind was Miranda Baker placing at No. 39 out of 240. At the Aurora University Invitational we placed eighth place with 210 points on Oct. 1st. Brandy and Baker were the first Cardinals to finish placing inside the top 25. Lastly, we placed 9th overall at the Bradley Pink Classic with 255 points. Brandy and Benes were the Cardinals top finishers. We took a second place finish this past weekend in the CCIW Championship with one All Conference First Team and three All-Conference Second Team.

Chicago remains ahead of Wartburg College and is now ranked No. 1 and No. 2 after the week seven polls. Washington (Mo.), Loras, and Central (Iowa) rounded out the regional top five.

North Central heads to the familiar St. James Farm, in Warrenville on Nov. 3rd to compete in the Red and White Invitational, hosted by North Central College.
