Collegiate Baseball News DIII Poll
March 30, 2022 - In the first installment of the Collegiate Baseball News Division III Top 30 Poll, the North Central College baseball team comes in at No. 23, the organization released on Tuesday.
The Cardinals are 13-5 on the season and have won all six of their home games this year. Luke Lehnen leads the Cardinals with 26 hits while Jared Wojcik tops the eligible hitters with a .418 batting average. Dom Listi ranks first on the team with 25 runs while Paul Beverly has driven in 20 runs.
On the mound, the Cardinals allow 4.39 earned runs per game. North Central is 24th in DIII baseball with 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings. Luke Lamm leads the Cardinals in innings pitched with 24.1 and has posted a 3-2 record. In his five starts, Lamm has struck out 28 batters. Jason Shanner tops North Central with 36 strikeouts to add to his 2-0 record and two saves.
LaGrange is ranked No. 1 in the poll with Birmingham Southern (No. 2), Marietta (No. 3), Lynchburg (No. 4), and UW-Whitewater (No. 5) rounding out the top five. North Central is the lone College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin team to appear in the top 30.
