Placing first in five of the 15 contested events, the North Central College men's track and field team prevailed over a five-team field Monday at the Al Carius Old Fashioned Track Meet, hosted by Wheaton College at McCully Stadium.

The Cardinals scored 117 points to outdistance the host Thunder (106), while Elmhurst University finished third with 42.

Three of the Cardinals' five event victories came in the middle-distance and distance events. Logan Tanttu and Juan Castro, meanwhile, ran neck-and-neck throughout the 800-meter run as Tanttu hit the finish line in 1:55.02 with Castro narrowly behind in second place at 1:55.05. Both individuals established personal bests by nearly two seconds. Julian Higueros won the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.10, followed by Braden Nicholson in third (4:07.96).

Nick Janca-Schmitt cleared six feet, six inches (1.98 meters) to win the high jump Monday and the 4-by-100-meter relay team of Kevin Dixon, Jahron Williams, Erik Musgrave and Jamauri Spivery was victorious as well (42.22). Musgrave also placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.05) and 400-meter hurdles (55.23), while Spivery finished second in the 100-meter dash (10.91).

Cameron Green and Gavin Carr tied for second place in the pole vault (13'7.25", 4.15m) and Jacob Miller finished second in the triple jump (39'5.75", 12.03m). Additional third-place points came from Brian Armstrong in the long jump (20'10.75", 6.37m), James McGlashon in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:36.77) and Tyler Piron in the 400-meter dash (52.05).
