NFCA All-Region Teams

May 17, 2022 - After helping her team to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and NCAA Division III Regional championship games, North Central College student-athlete, Gianna Corban has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team. The NFCA released its selections on Monday.

This marks Corban's first All-Region selection while she was named to the All-Tournament team over the weekend after pitching 13.3 innings, and recording 16 strikeouts over four games. Earlier this season, Corban was named First Team All-CCIW after earning Second Team accolades in 2021. She was also selected for the CCIW Pitcher of the Week twice during the 2022 season. 

This season, Corban has led the Cardinals in the circle with a 1.48 earned run average while boasting a 18-5 record. She pitched a total of 165 innings including 12 complete games and three saves on the year. Corban now holds the single-season and career records for strikeouts with 203 and 434, respectively. 

Corban finished out the year atop the CCIW leader board in a multitude of categories: strikeouts, strikeouts looking, saves, wins, and innings pitched. 

Across the CCIW, six student-athletes were named to the All-Region team including two from Millikin, two from North Park, and one from Illinois Wesleyan. Each of these honorees are now eligible for selection to the three NFCA Division III All-American teams. The NFCA will announce those selections on May 24.
