Nov. 22, 2024 - The Inclusion Team hosted the second Critical Conversation on Thursday night, by welcoming Ivy Watts from Active Minds to discuss her journey with mental health struggles as a student-athlete. The event was made possible with the help of the North Central College Dyson Wellness Center and a grant from the City of Naperville.
Watts, a former All-American women's track and field athlete and NCAA Women of the Year top 30 finalist, shared her story about the mental health struggles she went through as a student-athlete. Over the hour-long program, Watts showed North Central students exercises to take with them that will help their own mental health and help them cope with any struggles they may face.
This initiative by the Inclusion Team serves as the foundation of D.E.I. work for North Central Athletics. Stay tuned throughout the year for other Critical Conversations as well as our new UBelong social media series that can be found on NCC Athletics' social media channels.
