Sept. 20, 2024Â - The North Central College women's golf team commenced a busy week with tournaments Tuesday and Wednesday, turning in fourth-place showings at Tuesday's Benedictine University Fall Invite and Wednesday's CCIW Preview. The Cardinals saw a new 18-hole scoring record set Wednesday by junior
Mallorie Clifton, whose one-over-par score of 72 established a new all-time program standard.
Clifton placed third in Wednesday's event at Metamora Springs Golf Club in Metamora, Illinois, the site of this year's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship Oct. 3-5, and closed the event with a one-under-par total of 35 on the back nine. Elmhurst University's Regan Bobich placed first with a one-under score of 70, while Augustana College's Georgia Holt placed second with an even-par 71. Elmhurst edged out Augustana, 306-308, for first place in the team standings while the Cardinals posted a score of 321.
Caterina Calabria placed 15th for North Central with a score of 81, followed by
Anna Meinhart in 20th (83) and Gizewicz in 24th (85).
Tatiana Cooper, playing as an individual, shared 20th place with Meinhart.

The Cardinals turned in a total of 332 in Tuesday's tournament at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago to place fourth in a 14-team field. Aurora University won the team title with a score of 302, followed by Marian University (Wisconsin) with 318 and Elmhurst with 327. Aurora's Ellie Knight won the individual competition with an even-par score of 71.
Clifton and Meinhart tied for ninth place with identical scores of 80, while
Madison Place finished 28th (85) and Gizewicz came in 34th (87). Playing as an individual, Calabria shot 84 to place 22nd.

North Central travels to Brighton Dale Golf Course in Kansasville, Wisconsin, Friday and Saturday for the Midwest Region Classic, hosted by Benedictine. Play is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Click
