KANSASVILLE, Wis. (Sept. 23, 2024) - The North Central College women's golf team placed 11th in the 33-team Midwest Region Classic, held Friday and Saturday at Brighton Dale Golf Course.

The Cardinals scored 321 in the first round and 336 in the second round to finish the tournament with a 36-hole total of 657. California Lutheran University won the team competition with a final score of 615, seven strokes ahead runner-up Occidental College (California). Aurora University placed third (626), followed by the University of Dubuque (Iowa) with a score of (627) and Lake Forest College (635).

Dubuque's Morgan Hawkins was the individual winner with a five-over-par score of 149, securing a 79 in the first round and a two-under-par 70 in the second round. Tied for second was Carthage's Lexi Manteufel and Cal Lutheran's Ashley Zook and Caroline Morris and with identical scores of 151. Aleksa Gizewicz led the Cardinals' efforts with a score of 162 (79/83) to secure 39th, while following one stroke behind (78/85) was Mallorie Clifton in a four-way-tie for 40th .

Anna Meinhart shot a 165 (79/86) to tie for 49th, followed by Madison Place with a 167 (85/82) for 61st and Caterina Calabria with a score of 177 (88/89) to tied for 104th. Competing as an individual, Sydney Tucker fell two strokes behind Calabria with a score of 179 (89/90) for a 113th place finish.

The Cardinals will compete in the Dechert Classic, hosted by Millikin University, on Friday and Saturday at South Side Country Club in Decatur. Start time is at 1pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday.  Click HERE to view the full schedule.
