ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Sept. 3, 2024)Â - Coming off a historic team season that concluded just last spring, the North Central College women's golf team opened the 2024 fall season with a second-place finish in the 13-team Highland Championship, hosted by Augustana College. The event was held Sunday and Monday at Highland Spring Golf Course.

The Cardinals turned in a total of 325 during Sunday's first round before improving to 309 on Monday to finish out the Labor Day Weekend with a 36-hole score of 634, which matches the second lowest all-time in program history. The second-round score of 309 ties the program 18-hole record, which the Cardinals set at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship last October.

The host Vikings won the team competition with a score of 621. Following in third place was the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 640. Augustana's Kelsey O'Connor won the individual competition with a 36-hole score of 148 which was two strokes ahead of runner-up Gabrielle Krebs of Lake Forest College.

Leading the charge for North Central was
Mallorie Clifton, Â who placed third after matching the fifth-lowest 36-hole score in team history (153) and tied an 18-hole personal best in Sunday's first round.
Aleksa Gizewicz was just one stroke behind (154) in fourth. Gizewicz carded a one over-par score of 73 in the second round, including a one under-par 35 on the front ine. The total ties the program's individual 18-hole record set in 2013 by North Central Athletic Hall of Famer
Mary Kate Rohn'14/M '16 Walsh.

Madison Place finished 13th for the Cardinals with a score of 161, including a collegiate best 77 on Monday.
Anna Meinhart shot 166 (84/82) to place 22nd, while
Tatiana Cooper posted a score of 173 (89/84) to finish 38th. Competing as an individual,
Sydney Tucker came in 36
th with a total of 171 (83/88).
