DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 30, 2024)Â - The North Central College women's golf team took part in its final competition before this year's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship Friday and Saturday, placing fourth out of eight teams in the Dechert Classic. The event was hosted by Millikin University at South Side Country Club.
The Cardinals turned in an opening-round score of 348 on Friday, followed by a 358 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 706. Illinois Wesleyan University won the team championship with a score of 675, giving the Titans a three-stroke victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (Indiana). Illinois Wesleyan's Grace Fagan, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods' Grace Jaeger and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Taryn Endres shot identical scores of 161 to share individual medalist honors.
North Central was led by
Madison Place, who came in fourth out of 51 finishers with a total of 165 (82/83).
Aleksa Gizewicz shot 176 (86/90) to place 17th, followed by
Mallorie Clifton in 19th (86/91-177).
Caterina Calabria (94/98-192) and
Anna Meinhart (98/94-192) shared 35th place, while
Tatiana Cooper, playing as an individual, shot 182 (89/93) to place 25th.
The CCIW Championship will be contested Thursday through Saturday at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Illinois. Thursday's first round is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. Click
