Women's Cross Country Runs Perfect Score At Sauk Valley Invite

DIXON, Ill. (Oct. 4, 2025)- The North Central College women's cross country team traveled to Dixon, Ill., for the Sauk Valley Skyhawk 5K Invitational, where they placed first, achieving a perfect score. 

North Central scored the lowest amount of points possible in their first-place finish with 15. Upper Iowa College University placed second with 59 points, and Illinois Valley Community College trailed in third with 63 points. 

Giselle Alcala placed first overall and bested her 5K run in the Rock River Invite by seven seconds, turning in a time of 21 minutes and 11 seconds, which made for a 6:49.1 mile pace. Arielle Manas placed second in the race with a time of 21:53, which was a 47-second improvement from the Rock River Invite. Manas kept a seven-minute and two-second mile pace throughout. 

Leah Ortiz and Linda Luppi crossed the finish line within seconds of each other, placing third and fourth overall, respectively. Ortiz finished with a time of 22:12, while Luppi ended the race clocking in at 22:14. Madeline McBeth crossed 5th to complete the perfect score with a time of 22:20, which is a 5K personal best by one minute and seven seconds. 

Kamryn Neer placed ninth with a time of 22:51, while Olivia Parmelee and Riley Landsverk crossed the finish together in 11th and 12th place with times of 23:12 and 23:14. 

Women's Cross Country hits the course again on Friday, Oct. 17, for the Bradley Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University. The race is set to begin at 2:15 p.m. from the Newman Golf Course.
