Feb. 15, 2025 – The North Central College women's track and field team hosted the first day of competition in the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at the Al B. Carius Track winning five events.
Starting the day
Lindsey Novak took a dominant first place finish in the 400-meter dash in 56.67 seconds to improve her second best in the program's top ten while landing ninth in the nation on the TFRRS list. The 1000-meter run saw
Segilola Smith-Pariola seal the Cardinal victory in 3:17.65 with
Julia Benes (3:18.53) and
Marissa Magana (3:21.01) following behind. In an embattled effort
Cali Minkie,
Faith Ladin,
Svetlana Uvakova, and Novak combined for a North Central victory in the 4x400 relay in 4:03.91.
For field event victories,
Gabrielle Harding led the weight throws with a heave of 16.74 meters (54 feet, 11.25 inches) to improve her third best throw in the program's top ten.
Gwen Berenyi followed suit taking a victory in the pole vault with a high 3.83m (12' 6.75") with
Natalie Johnson following in fourth (3.33m, 10' 11").
Pola Kubrak took the Cardinal's highest mark in the high jump with a fifth place measure of 1.59m (5' 2.50").
In 60-meter events,
Allie Dockins scored an improvement to her tenth best time in the program's top ten with a sixth place dash of 7.92 seconds with Ladin matching her sixth best in hurdles with a fifth place finish of 9.14 seconds. The 300-meter run had
Riley Landsverk endure for second with a finish of 11:37.99 while the 5000-meter run had
Brianna Ruiz take third (19:37.71) and
Paige Runkle take fourth (19:39.07).
Kim Olwoch led the Cardinals in the shot put with a second place measure of 11.92m (39' 1.25") with Harding measuring in at fourth (11.64m, 38' 2.25"). North Central's group A took a third place finish in the distance medley relay between
Olivia Durbin,
Abigail Davidson,
Camdyn Lawson, and Landsverk in 13:56.16. The 200-meter dash saw
Kyla Miller snag a fourth place finish of 26.41 seconds.
