Feb. 21, 2025 – The North Central College men's track and field team hosted the annual F. Lee Slick Invitational at the Al B. Carius Track Friday to earn four event victories before traveling to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships.
Connor Riss claimed victory for the Cardinals in the 3000-meter run in a finish of 8:28.43 with
BJ Sorg following in third (8:34.65) and
Emerald Svienty sealing fifth (8:43.07).
James Ammenhauser leaped to a second place mark of 7.04 meters (23 feet, 1.25 inches) to improve his fifth best in the program's top ten. The triple jumps saw
Jayden Leise earn first in a measure of 14.33m (47' 0.25") while the high jump had
Colton Oleson dominate first with a high measure of 2.03m (6' 7.75"). The 60-meter dash saw
Alexander Knight finish in a lightning-fast 6.96 seconds for third to improve to fourth in the team's top ten.
Gabe Parker led the North Central runners in the 400-meter dash with a third place finish of 51.47 seconds with
Benjamin Ishimwe following in fourth (52.22). The 800-meter run saw
Jacob Everix take third (1:59.93) and
Logan Skidmore take fifth (2:00.11). In the mile run,
Luke Hoffmann snagged third in 4:22.79 with
Owen Dare (4:22.81) and
Aidan Armstrong (4:23.22) following behind. The 5000-meter run saw
Gabriel Ham take the Cardinal's highest finish in second with a time of 15:29.88. In a combined effort group A took the best time in the distance medley relay between Everix,
Logan Keeling,
Lucas Hoffman, and
Braden Nicholson in 10:15.82.
In the shot put
Daniel Dominguez heaved a second measure of 15.36m (50' 4.75") with
Ben Balboa taking third with 15.33m (50' 3.50") and
Anthony Zajac taking fifth with 13.68m (44' 10.75"). The weight throw had Zajac also take third with a measure of 16.77m (55' 0.25") while
Martin Egbo (16.27m, 53' 4.50") and Gavin Mcalister (15.63m, 51' 3.50") trailed.
North Central will compete in the CCIW Indoor Championships on Friday, looking to win its eighth consecutive tournament crown. The full schedule is available
