Feb. 21, 2025 – The North Central College women's track and field team competed in the annual F. Lee Slick Invitational soaring to two event victories and marking new improvements to the program's top ten list ahead of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships.
Lindsey Novak led the pack in the 200-meter dash with a victory in 24.91 seconds with
Gwen Berenyi leading the field events squad with a first place mark of 4.01 meters (13 feet, 1.75 inches) in the pole vault to move up to second behind Rachel Secrest's 2010 record of 4.01m (13' 2.25").
Natalie Johnson followed Berenyi in fourth with a measure of 3.46m (11' 4.25"). In the long jump,
Faith Ladin landed a mark of 5.44m (17' 10.25") for seventh place but improved her ninth place top ten measure.
The shot put had
Amanda Melton seal a Cardinal victory with a measure of 11.76m (38' 7") with Kimberly Olwoch taking third (11.60m, 38' 0.75") and
Robin Lee taking fifth (11.44m, 37' 6.50").
Abranet Layne led the way in second in the triple jump with a hop of 11.27m (36' 11.75") to enter fifth in the top ten while Ellianna Keyes followed in fifth (10.85m, 35' 7.25"). The 60-meter hurdle saw Ladin improve to 9.13 seconds in the top ten with her fifth place finish while the 60-meter dash preliminary had
Allie Dockins lock in a sixth place position in the top ten in 7.85 seconds.
Kyla Miller snagged the highest Cardinal finish in the 400-meter dash with a third place 59.73 seconds while the 800-meter run had
Olivia Durbin take fourth in 2:25.16. In the 3000-meter run
Brianna Ruiz snagged third in 11:13.79 with
Emma Cecich locking in a fifth place slot (11:19.30). The weight throws saw Olwoch take the longest North Central measure in second with 14.11m (46' 3.50") while
Arianna Teichman (13.65m, 44' 9.50") and
Gabrielle Harding (13.52m, 44' 4.25") followed close behind. A combined effort in the final event of the night saw North Central's group A take third place in the 4x400 relay off the embattled efforts of
Cali Minkie,
Cire' Smith, Durbin, and Miller (4:13.32).
