ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Apr. 19, 2025) - The North Central College women's track and field team won two events at the Augustana College Meet of Champions while also earning nine second-place finishes in Lindberg Stadium.
Abranet Layne's leap of 11.38 meters (37' 4") earned a first-place finish in the triple jump, ranking No. 6 in the program's top performances.
Julia Benes won the 5,000-meter run after earning an 18:26.00 finish.
Additionally, North Central had athletes earn second-place finishes. Directly behind Layne in the triple jump was
Leona Agyemang, with a mark of 11.11 meters (36' 5.5), while Benes was followed by
Bethany Smeed in second place in the 5,000-meter run (19:30.01).
Robin Lee marked 38.42 meters (126') in the javelin throw, ranking No. 7 in program history.
Faith Ladin cleared 1.59 meters in the high jump, and
Gwen Berenyi cleared 3.90 meters (12' 9.95) in the pole vault.
Lindsey Novak posted a 56.14-second finish in the 400-meter dash and a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (24.52).
Alivia Henkel finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06. 61.
Anna Cotter earned a second-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,266 points. Cotters ranks No. 4 in program history.
The Cardinals' 4-by-100-meter relay team of
Kyla Miller,
Faith Ladin,
Cali Minkie, and Novak clocked a finish of 47.63, closing out the program's top ten fastest times. The 4-by-400 relay team of Minkie,
Segilola Smith-Pariola,
Reilly Boyer, and Novak earned a second-place finish with a time of 4:04.10.
Minkie also earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (58.80). In the field,
Natalie Johnson took second in the pole vault by clearing 3.75 meters (12' 3.5"), while
Katelyn McCann finished third with a leap of 5.41 meters (17' 9").
Denise Partee earned a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.52).
North Central will compete at the Elmhurst University Twilight Invite at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Apr. 25, at Langhorst Field in Elmhurst, Ill.
