May 11, 2025 - The North Central College men's track and field team competed in the USF Fighting Chance Invite and the Augustana College Penultimate Qualifier this weekend.
Kamil Kokot broke his newly established 110-meter hurdle program record after just a week.
After breaking the program record at the CCIW Championship last weekend, Kokot was at it again at the USF Fighting Chance Invite. Kokot notched a second-place finish after crossing the finish line in 14.34 seconds, improving his program record and tying for No. 21 in the national rankings.
Braden Nicholson led the Cardinals in the 5,000-meter run by earning first place. Nicholson's finish of 14:09.99 placed him at No. 17 in the nation.
BJ Sorg placed seventh with a time of 14:38.20.
In the 5,000-meter run section one,
Oscar Frontjes notched second place with a 14:53.02 finish.
Aidan Armstrong followed Frontjes in fourth (14:54.88) and
Luke Hoffmann in ninth (14:57.98). In the 5,000-meter run section four,
Ishaan Patel clocked a 16:15.57 finish.
Randall Reed clocked a 21.18-second finish in the 200-meter dash to collect second place. His record is third in the program's top ten records and ranked No. 30 in the nation. The Cardinals' 4-by-100-meter relay featured
Marcus Caselberry, Reed,
Brian Jackson, and
Alexander Knight. The relay team collected third place with a time of 42.76 seconds.
Emerald Svienty earned a seventh-place finish in section four of the 1,500-meter run (4:05.35), and
Connor Riss took eighth in section one of the 1,500-meter run (3:54.45). Jackson also finished in eighth place after finishing the 100-meter dash in 10.86 seconds. Jackson's finish ranks eighth in the program's top ten records.
In the field,
Jayden Leise leaped to second place with a mark of 14.63 meters (48") in the triple jump.
Gabe Parker pocketed third place after clearing 4.35 meters (14'3.25") in the pole vault.
Anthony Divenere was not far behind in fifth place with a 5.20-meter (13'9.25) performance.
Ben Balboa earned a third-place finish with a toss of 47.44 meters (155' 8") in the discus, and
Daniel Dominguez took tenth with a toss of 43.12 meters (141' 6"). Additionally, Balboa finished sixth in the shot put (14.72m, 48'3.5").
Then, at the Augustana College Penultimate Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill., North Central saw five athletes place in the top ten of their respective events.
Colton Oleson earned first place, clearing 2.02 meters (6 7.50") in the high jump.
Martin Egbo pocketed a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.42 meters (175 03"). Egbo currently holds fourth in the program's top ten records, but he improved his record.
Balboa placed third in the discus (49.65m, 162' 11"), notching third in the program's top ten records and moving to No. 33 in the national rankings. Dominguez collected seventh place in the discus throw (43.31m, 142' 01") and ninth in the shot put (14.17m, 46' 6").
North Central has one more competition before the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The Cardinals will compete at the Midwest Twilight Qualifier hosted by Augustana College on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, with competition beginning at 12:30 p.m. each day.
