GENEVA, Ohio (May 23, 2025) - The North Central College women's track and field team wrapped up the 2025 season at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Faith Ladin left with All-American honors in the javelin throw and the heptathlon.
Ladin had a busy weekend, competing in the javelin throw and the seven events that make up the heptathlon. Her third-place toss in the javelin throw was her third toss of the competition, hitting 41.58 meters (136'5"). Ladin is just one of four Cardinal athletes in program history to achieve All-American status in the javelin throw and is the only athlete to have done it twice.
Ladin earned an eighth-place finish in the heptathlon out of a 22-person field with 4,861 points. She opened up the heptathlon Thursday morning, placing No. 16 in the 100-meter hurdles (15.44), then took third place with a personal best jump of 1.63 meters (5'4.25") in the high jump. Ladin ended day one, finishing the 200-meter dash in 26.31 seconds. Friday, She delivered a fourth-place leap in the long jump (5.51m, 18'1") before finishing as the top athlete in the javelin throw (38.57m, 126'6"). She also took eighth place in the 800-meter run with a 2:30.11 finish.
Lindsey Novak qualified in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. On Thursday, Novak took No. 14 in the 200-meter dash preliminaries, crossing the finish line in 24.57 seconds. Novak missed qualifying for the finals by a heartbreaking .21 of a second. In the 400-meter dash on Friday, Novak missed the finals again after finishing the race in 55.92 seconds.
Sophomore
Gwen Berenyi tied for No. 20 in the pole vault. Berenyi cleared 3.60 meters (11'9.75") on her second jump. Unfortunately, she did not clear 3.75 meters (12'3.5"). Berenyi will look for vengeance in the 2025-26 season.
North Central finished with 10 points and, at the end of day two, was ranked No. 10 in the team rankings, with no athletes left to compete on day three.
The Cardinals will say a bittersweet goodbye to a large group of seniors. Ladin and Novak finished their collegiate careers at Nationals, each significantly impacting the program and establishing numerous program records.
