North Central Finishes Eighth at Gil Dodds Invitational

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 20, 2025) - Racing its upperclassmen for the first time this season, the North Central College women's cross country team posted an eighth place team finish in a 18-team field at the Gil Dodds Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 20, with junior Lily Anderson leading the way with a top-35 finish.

Anderson and Molly Sheridan utilized the first lap to move into the top-40 with No. 3 nationally-ranked University of Chicago leading the way. Behind Anderson and Sheridan, a group of Cardinals stuck together through the first lap.

At the start of the second lap, Anderson edged her way into the top 35 and held steady throughout the loop to sit 35th at the break to the finish line. Anderson ran down two runners to finish 33rd in 23:48.90 in her first race of the season.

Marissa Magana and Sheridan were separated by just two runners, as Magana finished 52nd in 24:25.40 and Sheridan came in at 24:31.50 for 55th. Yarecci Salmeron finished behind Sheridan in 56th place in a time of 24:37.10. Camdyn Lawson and Brianna Ruiz rounded out the Cardinals top-six. Lawson finished 68th in 24:55.40 and Ruiz clocked a 25:05.20 for 74th.

As a team North Central finished eighth with 211 points. No. 3 UChicago won the meet with a near-perfect score of 17 points, followed by runner-up DePauw with 78 points. Cornell finished third with 106 points.

North Central heads north next Saturday, Sept. 27 for the Lucian Rosa Invitational with race time at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course set for 9:30 a.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
