WAVERLY, IOWA (Sept. 7, 2025) – For the second consecutive week,
Caterina Calabria shot a new career-low as the North Central College women's golf team placed 14
th among 21 teams in the Wartburg Fall Invite hosted at Prairie Links Golf & Events Center in Waverly, Iowa.
After shooting an 84 in her first round on Saturday, Calabria jumped 29 spots in the individual standings after shooting a new career best 78 in her second round, breaking 80 for the first time in college competition.
Calabria was the highest individual finisher for the Cardinals on the weekend, finishing in 36
th place out of 128 competitors. Calabria's 162 score on the weekend also ranks as her best 36-hole score of her career.
The University of Dubuque took home the team title, winning on a tiebreaker with the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Dubuque and UW-Stout both finished with a score of 607, but Dubuque claimed the title after having the better fifth-place scorer between the two teams.
North Central submitted rounds of 337 and 328, finishing the weekend with a total score of 665, just seven strokes behind Coe College and Wartburg College, who tied for 12
th with team scores of 658.
Mallorie Clifton finished the weekend with scores of 83 and 80 (163 total), good enough to finish in 45
th individually. Clifton holed one birdie on the weekend, carding a three on the par four 11
th hole in her second round.
Madison Place also finished in the top half of the individual field, placing 56
th after turning in rounds of 83 and 82, notching two birdies on the weekend, making one in each of her two rounds.
Aleksa Gizewicz made two birdies for the second consecutive weekend, doing so this time on consecutive holes in her first round. The senior made birdies on the fifth and sixth holes on Saturday en route to her 182 score on the weekend.
Two freshmen made their debut for the Cardinals this weekend.
Carley Rogers finished her first 36 holes of collegiate golf with 11 pars, shooting a 178 on the weekend. Rogers was the fourth-best scorer for the Cardinals in her first taste of collegiate action.
Annie Claussen, the other newcomer to make her North Central debut this weekend, made her first career birdie on the first hole of her second round (which was really her second hole of the round after starting the day on the 18
th). Claussen finished her first tournament with a score of 189.
The Cardinals have a quick turnaround, as they play in Illinois for the first time this season on Wednesday, Sept. 10, taking part in the Benedictine University Fall Invite at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club.
