Metamora, Ill. (Oct. 3) – The North Central College Women's Golf team placed third in the CCIW Championships in Metamora Field Golf Club. The group was led by
Anna Meinhart who placed seventh in the tournament and was awarded All-Conference honors for her efforts.
The Cardinals claimed their third consecutive top-three finish in the CCIW with a score of 961, the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history. They edged out the Augustana Vikings for third, beating them by one stroke, and coming all the way down to the 18
th hole on day three.
Meinhart shot a 232 (+7) on the weekend and set a new career-low in strokes over 54-holes and also enters into the history books with the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history. Meinhart recovered well from her day one start, posting 75s on both days two and three. Her 150 on the final two days, ties her teammate
Madison Place as the second-lowest 36-hole score in program history. Meinhart did not record a double-bogey or worse on day three of the tournament which allowed her to continue to climb the leaderboard. Meinhart collected five birdies on her way to a top 10 finish.
Behind her was freshman
Quincy Weymouth who shot a 244 (+31) and tied for 15
th. Weymouth produced very well on the first two days of the tournament shooting an 80 (+9) and 79(+8) respectively. Her 159 is the lowest 36-hole score of her young career. Weymouth was also the recipient of the CCIW RESPECT AWARD. The CCIW RESPECT Award is awarded to a member of each CCIW varsity team who demonstrates the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust while demonstrating themselves as a vital member of their team.
Illinois Wesleyan University claimed the team championship for the fifth consecutive year. The Titans turned in rounds of 296, 287, and 307 for a cumulative score of 890 (+38).
The individual competition was claimed by a Titan as well, Grace Fagan who shot a 218, winning by five strokes. Following behind her was a tie for second from Natalie Ocheltree of Illinois Wesleyan and Lexi Manteufel of Carthage College, both shooting a 223.
Senior
Madison Place shot a 247 (+34) and placed 19
th in the event with rounds of 81, 83, and 83.
Carley Rogers came out strong and beat her career-low in strokes by four on day one. Rogers shot a 79 (+8) on her first day and her efforts placed her 11
th in the tournament early on.
Caterina Calabria shot 83, 90, 79, displaying strong golf on day three to conclude the event well. On the front nine Calabria was two-over-par thanks to six pars and a birdie on the eighth hole, a par three.
Freshman
Ansley Ellis tied for 33
rd in the event shooting a 90, 83, and 89. Ellis produced a birdie on the par five sixth, which led her to her lowest score of the tournament.
The Cardinals have seen continuous improvement under Coach
Rachel Gray, who has led the Cardinals to their third consecutive top-three finish and they have not finished outside the top-five since she took the lead.
The North Central Women's Golf team will resume action in Spring 2027.
