Naperville, Ill. (Sept. 16) – Senior Madison Place earned her first Collegiate Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's (CCIW) Golfer of the Week for September 7 to 13 representing the North Central College Cardinals Women's Golf team.

Place earned the accolade after shooting a 149 at the Wartburg Fall Invitational this past weekend, setting a North Central Women's Golf record for the lowest score in program history through 36 holes. The record was originally set by Place herself at last year's CCIW Championship when she shot a 150. Place's 74 and 75 between the two days were also good for fourth and ninth all-time lowest scores for the Cardinals Women's Golf team through 18 holes.

Place scored par or better on nine consecutive holes in round two at Prairie Links Golf Course, including a birdie on a par four measuring 304 yards from the tee. For the weekend, Place recorded four birdies and 22 pars.

Place is the first member of the women's golf team to earn the CCIW Golfer of the Week accolade since Alex Brummer won the award on September 27, 2017.

For her career, Place currently resides in third for the all-time career stroke average with a 82.90 and sits just 0.69 strokes away from the all-time record set by last year's graduate Mallorie Clifton.

Place will look to build on her historic weekend when she competes in the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic taking place this weekend from September 19-20.
