KENOSHA, Wis. (Mar. 3, 2026) - For the final weekend to secure qualifying marks, the North Central College men's track and field team opened the weekend at Carthage College for the Firebird Finale inside the Tarble Arena.
The Cardinals saw three consecutive finishes in the pole vault with Bobby Guetthoff placing third with a season-best 4.36 meter (14 '3.75"). Grant Sarris followed with the same 4.36 meter (14 '3.75") mark, setting a new personal best and finishing fourth, while Gabe Parker matched the mark to tie his teammates for fourth.
In the long jump, Prentice Myles leaped 6.90 meters (22 '7.6") to place fourth, and Luke Hemmersmeier jumped 6.70 meters (21' 11.8") to finish sixth.
In the shot put, Ben Balboa threw 15.64 meters (51'4") to finish fourth overall. In the final field event of the day, Jayden Leise closed the meet in fifth in the triple jump with a 15.64-meter (51'4") mark in the sand.
The North Central track and field team will close out the weekend seeking additional qualifying marks as athletes aim to advance to the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, scheduled for Mar. 13–14 in Birmingham, Ala.
