Kyle Brady and
Peter Geraghty were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, helping the Cardinals sweep the award for the second time this season.
Brady was honored as the Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 5,000-meter run at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Squig Converse Invitational on Friday night. Brady ran an NCAA Division III Automatic qualifying time in the event, crossing the tape in 14:28.36, winning by almost a seven second margin. His time is currently the fastest time in Division III.
Geraghty wins the Field Athlete of the Week honor after finishing second in the pole vault after clearing a provisional qualifying height of 16'6 3/4". His vault establishes a new freshman record in the event and is currently the third best mark in the nation behind teammate and defending indoor national champion
Jake Winder and the University of Wisconsin-Stout's Daniel Drewek.
The Cardinals have now claimed three of the four Track Athlete of the Week awards and two of the four Field Athlete of the Week awards this season.
Dan Benton (Jan. 26) and
Matt Borchardt (Jan. 19) where previously honored on the track while Winder captured Athlete of the Week honors in the field events on Jan. 26.
North Central won four events and achieved seven qualifying marks at the eight-team Squig Converse Invitational, finishing second in the team standings to No. 1-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The Cardinals travel to the University of Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 13, for the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.
