ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Apr. 10, 2010) - Turning in two straight days of consistent play, the North Central men's golf team placed seventh in the 14-team Augustana College Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Highland Springs Golf Course.
North Central turned in an 18-hole total of 309 on Friday before firing a 313 on Saturday for a total of 622. St. Ambrose University (Iowa) placed first with a total of 585, though Brandon Kemmerling of Monmouth College (Iowa) outdueled St. Ambrose's Dusty Drenth for top individual honors. Kemmerling and Drenth both finished with five under-par scores of 139, and Kemmerling prevailed on the first playoff hole.
As he has all spring,
Nick Guido led the Cardinals with a seventh-place finish, turning in a three over-par total of 147.
Brendan Chaves finished 29th with a score of 157, while
Thomas Walker was 51st (162) and
Matt Grennell finished 56th (163).
North Central competes at the University of St. Francis Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
