ROCKFORD, Ill. (Apr. 23, 2026) - Playing their best golf of the season at the right time, the North Central College men's golf team placed second at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Preview in their final tune-up before the conference championship. Freshman Tre Wienke won the individual title behind four birdies on the day.

Wienke paced the Cardinals with a 74 (+2), the sixth-best round by a Cardinal this season. Jake Delaney closed with three straight birdies on holes 16, 17 and 18 to take second place at 75 (+3). Rylan Lother finished 34th with an 83 (+11), while Lundaa Hayanhirvaa posted an 84 (+12) to share 34th. Nicholas Zaimins placed 46th with an 88 (+16).

Competing as individuals, AJ Ackerson carded an 84 (+12) to join Lother and Hayanhirvaa in 34th. Matt Jachim recorded an 86 (+14) to finish 41st.

Host Millikin University won the event with a 311, edging North Central's 316. North Park University placed third, followed by Augustana College.

North Central returns to Aldeen Golf Club on Wednesday for the CCIW Championships. The three-day event begins at 12:30.
