Sturtevant, Wis. (Sept. 15) – The North Central College Men's Golf team placed ninth in a field of 16 as they competed in the Firebird Fall Invite.

The Cardinals were led by senior Jake Delaney, who shot a 147 (+3) on the weekend and placing T17. Delaney was propelled by his performance on day two, where he shot one-under-par on the front nine of Tuesday's action.

Behind Delaney was Joe Luchtenburg who placed T34 after shooting six-over-par for the tournament, shooting +3 on each day of the tournament. He did well to bounce back from a first hole double bogey, getting a birdie on the next along with two more later on in day one. On round two, Luchtenburg one-upped himself, shooting four birdies on the day.

Alec Rogers (T56, +7) recovered well on day two of the tournament after shooting a 79 (+7) in round one, more than halving his score in round two by shooting a 75 (+3). His second round was capped off by an eagle on the par five fifth, extending out 525 yards. From approximately 30 feet out, Rogers hit his putt with perfect tempo. The ball sat on the edge of the hole seemingly reaching it's final destination, Rogers walked up towards the ball in dismay before a gust of wind kicked up and knocked it in for an eagle.
Rogers was not the only member of the Cardinals to find success on the fifth hole in round two. Every member of the Cardinal golf team hit a birdie or better the par five.

Both Tre Wienke and Lundaa Hayanhirvaa tied for 49^th with scores of 153. Wienke posted a strong day one, shooting three-over-par with two birdies and Hayanhirvaa mirrored Wienke's performance on day two, also shooting three over on the day with two birdies.

The North Central Men's Golf team will be back in action for the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Golf Course from Sept 25 – 26.
