Complete CCIW Release

Apr. 28, 2010-- The North Central College men's 4x400-meter relay squad consisting of Jon Caron, Jon Howard, Dayton Henriksen and Dan Benton has been honored by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as the Track Athletes of the Week on Wednesday.

The foursome clocked a 3:15.32 in the preliminaries of the Drake Relays on Friday in Des Moines, Iowa, advancing to the finals by virtue of winning their heat. On Saturday, the relay shaved over three seconds off their time, placing fifth overall and first among Division III institutions with an automatic qualifying effort of 3:12.30. The squad's performance was the third fastest time in school history and currently is the fastest time in Division III. All four relay members were apart of the 2010 indoor national championship winning relay back in March, helping the Cardinals solidify their second indoor national team title.

This is Benton's second CCIW Athlete of the Week honor this outdoor season, claiming the award back on April 13. North Central has now captured five of the 12 conference awards doled out this season.

The second ranked Cardinals return to the track on Friday, making the short trip to Lisle, Ill. for the Benedictine University Invitational with events getting underway at 3 p.m.
