AURORA, Ill. (Sep. 2, 2014) -Â The North Central College men's golf team opened its 2014 season Tuesday by taking part in the Aurora University Invitational, taking sixth place in the 12-team event at Aurora Country Club.
The Cardinals turned in a 36-hole total of 655, while College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) rival Carthage College placed first with 613. The Red Men owned the four top spots in the individual standings, as Kyle Donovan and Ian Statz shared first place in the 69-man field with identical scores of 152.
North Central was led by Felix Valentin, placing 17th with a score of 159. Lincoln Slagel finished 27th with 163, and the Cardinals' scoring was completed by Eric Gruber in 33rd (165) and Glenn Miller in 39th (168).
North Central travels to Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday for the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. both days.Â
