PHOENIX, Ariz. (Mar. 21, 2015) - The North Central College men's golf team opened the 2015 spring season in the AmFam Desert Challenge on Friday, taking on Carthage College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in a two-man best-ball event at Aguila Golf Club.

Each team was divided into three two-man pairs, with each player playing his own ball and the lowest score being the pair's score for the hole. Carthage finished with a score of 207 to place first, followed by Wisconsin-Parkside (214) and North Central (228).

Carthage's Jarrett Simonson and Kyle Donovan posted the top score of the day with a six under-par total of 66. The Cardinals were led by the duo of Felix Valentin and Lincoln Slagel, who combined to shoot an even-par 72. Eric Gruber and Glenn Miller shot 78 for North Central, as did Kevin Whalen and Vincent Vazquez.

The Cardinals return to competition Mar. 28-29, when they travel to Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute, Indiana, for the Rose-Hulman Invitational.
