TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Mar. 29, 2015) - The North Central College men's golf team had a sixth-place finish at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Invitational at the Hulman Links Golf Course after posting a 36-hole score of 661 on Saturday and Sunday while sophomore Lincoln Slagel posted a 163, good enough to tie for 26th overall.
The Cardinals started off the day on Saturday by posting an 18-hole score of 332. They followed on Sunday by dropping three strokes and improving to a 329.
The team had three golfers finish in the top 30 for individual scores; Slagel (26), Eric Gruber (29) and Felix Valentin (30).
The Vincennes University Flames took first-place for the tournament with a 36-hole score of 605. Mount St. Joseph University finished second after posting 611. Rose-Hulman (636), Thomas More College (637) and Hanover College (640) rounded out the top five.
Valentin led the Cardinals with a 79 in the first round and Gruber was second with an 81. Slagel came through in the second round on Sunday by posting a 79 and finishing first overall for the Cardinals by one stroke over Gruber (164).
The Cardinals continue their spring season when they travel to Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois on April 10-11 for the Augustana College Invitational.
