CLAYTON, Ind. (Sept. 24, 2017) -Â The North Central College men's golf team hit the road for the final time in 2017 Saturday and Sunday, turning in a 16th-place finish in DePauw University's Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Deer Creek Golf Club.
The Cardinals put up a 36-hole score of 646, including a season-best 18-hole round of 315 on Saturday. Kenyon College won the event with a score of 587, while DePauw and Franklin College tied for second at 596.
Mount St. Joseph University's Mikel Merker finished with a one under-par score of 141 to claim a one-stroke victory in the individual standings. North Central's Hiromitsu Washizu placed 12th in the field with a total of 148, including a one-under 70 on Saturday which stands as the Cardinals' top individual round of the fall.
Ben Cartwright shot 163 to place 70th, followed by Carter Bruntjen in 81st (167), Steven Grabowski in 84th (171) and Glenn Miller in 91st (173). Cody Temper, competing as an individual, finished 47th (157).
North Central completes its fall season on Monday, Oct. 2, hosting the Naperville Collegiate Invitational at Naperville Country Club.
