CCIW Press Release
Mar. 27, 2018 - The North Central College men's golf program has claimed its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week Award, as sophomore
Hiromitsu Washizu has received the distinction for Mar. 19-25. The CCIW announced its selection on Tuesday.
The CCIW has been presenting Men's Golfer of the Week Awards since 2010. Washizu became North Central's first such honoree after a second-place individual finish at the Illinois College Invitational on Sunday. In a tournament which was shortened from 36 holes to 18 due to weather and subjected players to winds gusting over 30 miles per hour, Washizu turned in a score of 76, matching his second-lowest total of the season, to finish in a three-way tie for second place and just one stroke behind the individual champion.
Washizu currently leads the Cardinals with a stroke average of 77.60 per 18-hole round this season.
North Central is idle until Apr. 7-8, when it travels to Shadowood Golf Club in Seymour, Indiana, for the Hanover College Spring Invitational.
