Apr. 10, 2018 - For the second time in three weeks, North Central College men's golf student-athlete
Hiromitsu Washizu has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week Award, earning the distinction for the week of Apr. 2-8. The CCIW announced its selection on Tuesday.
Washizu, who received the first CCIW Golfer of the Week award in the history of the North Central program on Mar. 27, received the honor for a second time after winning the individual championship at the Hanover College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. After posting an opening-round score of 75 on Saturday, Washizu carded a career-best total of 69 on Sunday to win by four strokes with an even-par 36-hole score of 144, also a career best.
Washizu currently leads the Cardinals with a stroke average of 76.67 per 18-hole round this season and has turned in seven of the team's eight best individual rounds.
North Central travels to Kenosha Country Club in Somers, Wisconsin on Apr. 17 for the Carthage College Spring Invitational.
