Mar. 26, 2019 - After leading the North Central College men's golf team to a pair of solid showings in its first competitions of the spring season, Cardinal freshman
Zach Bohmer has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week for Mar. 18-24.
Bohmer earned the first such distinction after turning in North Central's top individual scores at the Benedictine University Florida Quad on Wednesday and the Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Bohmer toured the par-70 layout at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links in St. Cloud, Florida on Wednesday in a two over-par total of 72, sharing individual medalist honors as the Cardinals placed first in the four-team field by six strokes.
Over the weekend, he turned in back-to-back scores of 75 and 76 at Yankee Trace Golf Club in Centerville, Ohio, finishing sixth overall with a total of 151 to come within three strokes of his lowest 18-hole round of the academic year. He paced North Central to a fourth-place showing in the 13-team event.
Bohmer's award is the third won by a Cardinal since its introduction in 2010.
Hiromitsu Washizu was so honored twice during the 2017-2018 campaign.
North Central is idle until it travels to Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Indiana Apr. 6-7 for the Battle at Belterra, hosted by Hanover College.
