Feb. 6, 2021 - Opening a unique indoor campaign with limited numbers in uniform, the North Central College men's and women's track and field teams took on Wheaton College in their first meet of 2021 at Al B. Carius Track.
The women's team won nine of the 13 contested events, three of which came from Kelsey McLaurin. The senior won the 200-meter dash (26.97) and triple jump (37'3.75") before teaming with Katie Bonney, Elizabeth Hodonicky and Allison Grady to prevail in the 4-by-400-meter relay (4:08.11). Bonney also placed first individually in the 400-meter dash (1:00.03).
Alexandra Draves came in first in the 20-pound weight throw (51 feet, 3.75 inches), while Maddie Bobinski won the shot put (39'8.50") and Kathy Myrda cleared 11'0.25" to win the pole vault. Keely Parker won the 60-meter dash (8.31) and Jenna Fiore hit the finish line first in the mile (5:19.02).
The men's team, meanwhile, won seven events, led by
Michael Stanley's double victories in the 200 (22.86) and 400 (50.15).
Gabe Pommier stormed away from the field in the mile run to win by more than 16 seconds in 4:13.29, while
Connor Riss won the 3,000-meter run (8:44.44) and
Kevin Dixon finished first in the 60-meter dash (7.21).
Nick Janca cleared six feet, 7.50 inches to prevail in the high jump and
Kendall Johnson's mark of 46'7.50" brought him the win in the triple jump.
Both teams will host Elmhurst University in dual competition on Friday, Feb. 19.
