Mar. 16, 2021 - North Central College men's golf student-athlete Sergio Ronchel Salas has been named one of two recipients of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week award for Mar. 8-14.

Ronchel Salas shares the distinction with Millikin University's Tyler Reitz after the pair tied for second place in Millikin's Spring Opener on Saturday and Sunday at South Side Country Club in Decatur. Each finished with a total of 147 strokes in the 36-hole tournament.

Ronchel Salas carded a score of 76 in Saturday's first round, then improved to an even-par score of 71 during Sunday's final round. The 36-hole total is the best by a Cardinal golfer in nearly two years and matches the seventh-best in the program's history.

North Central is idle until Saturday, Mar. 26, when the Cardinals travel Kankakee Elks Country Club for the Olivet Nazarene University Tiger Intercollegiate.
