OAK BROOK, Ill. (Sept. 23, 2021) - Boosted by a career-best effort from senior Vail Cordell, the North Central College men's golf team entered the home stretch of its fall season with a 10th-place finish in the Elmhurst University Invitational at Oakbrook Country Club.

Cordell finished the 18-hole event with a two over-par total of 74, a collegiate best in a single round by five strokes, to place fourth out of 74 competitors. Wheaton College swept the top two spots in the individual competition, as David Morton won with a five under-par score of 67 and Jonah Swartz placed second with a 69.

The Cardinals posted a team score of 337. Wheaton won the team title as well with a score of 295 which placed the Thunder 15 strokes clear of runner-up Carthage College. 

Mitch Boryszewski placed 33rd overall (82), followed by Derek Olson in 63rd (89), Bradford Martin in 71st (92) and Braden Estes in 72nd (95).

North Central travels to Randall Oaks Golf Club in Dundee Monday for the Judson University Fall Invitational.
