WHEATON, Ill. (Apr. 30, 2022) - The North Central College women's track and field team completed its outdoor regular season Friday, winning four events and achieving a second-place finish in the 16-team Elmhurst University Invitational at Wheaton College's McCully Stadium.
The Cardinals scored 133 points to trail only Elmhurst's total of 157.5, while Wheaton placed third with 104.
North Central closed the evening with an 11-second victory in the 4-by-400-meter relay, as
Allison Grady,
Hannah Jones,
Faith Ladin and
Lindsey Novak were clocked in four minutes, 2.73 seconds.
Julia Babinec and
Denise Partee finished first (14.31) and second (14.63), respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles, while
Tarrah Kamp and
Alexandra Draves claimed first (122'6", 37.34 meters) and third (109'11", 33.52m) in the discus throw and Draves also achieved a distance of 159'0" (48.46m) to win the hammer throw.
Novak, Babinec, Partee and
Marcedes Jackson placed second in a hotly-contested 4-by-100-meter relay (48.22 seconds). Grady placed second in the 400-meter dash in a photo finish, with a finishing time of 1:00.14 which was just .07 behind Ninawa Odicho of the Illinois Track Club.
Additional third-place points came from Jackson in the 100-meter dash (12.37),
Kiarah Horn in the pole vault (9'0.25", 2.75m) and
Linda Bottalico in the shot put (36'0.25", 10.98m).
